Worm
« on: September 17, 2005, 01:51:13 PM »
I don't want to cause panic, but about 45 min ago I received warning that a worm tried to invade my computer. I have been off line running all of the checks since. Just wondered if anyone else experienced the same thing. Not pointing fingers, but the last 2 posts I clicked on were bruns_o_lutions & myspaces by panic in the non bowling misc. I don't know how long it takes for the warning to come onto the screen, but it came up after those 2 posts were looked at. May have come from another source, but thankfully my computer is clean.

Don't know Jeremy, if you did I missed it. I can't recall everwhere I've been, but those were the last two. It may have come in a message, but if so it would have been a long time before I was warned. I have Norton, & I guess it blocked it.

Sawuser, you might want to get Microsoft AntiSpyware. Works great for me, blocks programs that try to change settings on your computer. BTW, it is Free!

Thanks, but I get Norton free also, & so far its done a good job. I really don't know where it may have come from, just so it didn't get anyones computer.

I use Zone Alarm's Security Suite, it has three firewalls, anti-virus, spyware, and IM Secure.  I also run Spybot and Ad-Aware.  For those looking for a free firewall, Zone Labs has one, one of the best you can get.
