worst 300 ever
« on: March 11, 2010, 12:24:04 PM »
The team I bowled tonight there was a 196 avg bowler bowling and he shot what had to be the worst 300 I have ever seen he had some lucky strikes in there didn't hit the same mark. His series was 188 300 154. I was happy for him and wanted him to shot it but wow couldn't believe it.

One of the best bowlers around here just shot 18x, 300, 18x.  It happens.

This was a long time ago about 10 years ago I think. I was bowling a JTBA of Ohio tournament and after the first game one kid shot 300. I was like damn already 80 down from the lead thats fine..well turns around and th next game the kid shot 130's 150's the next two games and was under even.So that has the be the worst I ever seen.

I saw a guy throw 9 brooklyns, two nose shots and one light pocket hit for 300.  would have been a lucky 180 let alone 300.

well, in the 03-04 season, one of the leagues I bowled in, I seen a guy with the front 6, and he was like a high low 180avg guy..  And proceeded to go through the nose, go high brooklyn, or completely brooklyn, on the last 6 shots.. maybe 1 of the last 6 shots was on the 1-3 side and it was extremely light....  but seriously was the worst "300" game i've ever seen.

I know your bound to have a lucky shot or something happen in a 300, but to have 6 lucky shots???????  go buy a lotto ticket lol....

Like getting a hole in one, landing that trophy fish, etc. there has to be luck involved. The wind just right, a blade of grass guided the golf ball. Your lure happened to be in the water as the big fish swam by, some other person hooked it but it spit the lure, etc. In a "good" strike you have to have the "luck" of the ball deflecting the proper amount after hitting the five pin and all the other pins taking the "correct" path to knock each other down. Give the guy his props, he got his 300 ring. How many of you have a 300 and how many were "perfect" and not "ugly" on at least one ball?

Most professional fisherman that I ever hear speak, its not luck for them. They state that their experience, knowledge, and attention to the details put them in the right spot to get that trophy fish.

I think its BS. But for some reason when a amateur does something like this, its luck. For a professional its something else (like being able to adapt).

I crossed over on the 12 th hit at the Big Show....

Really didn't care because I won a $500 bonus with that garbage shot...

Front 10 were flush...
Trip 4/9 in the 11th and a dead yank crossover trip 6 on the 12th...

This was no doubt The Stroke's favorite game I have ever bowled...

Shot 300/633 once too back in like 1994

Not to be the "troll" to kill the thread, but this one intrigued me.
To me - only in my humble opinion - this is exactly why bowling will never be considered a major sport.  There is just too much luck involved.  You nail one only to leave a solid 8 and your opponent beats you with one through the face.  I know you can point to examples of luck in every sport the check swing bloop single that scores two in baseball, the net cord shot that goes over the opponents head in tennis, etc.  Bowling just seems to have many more examples of luck playing a major role in the game which again, to me, detracts from the "sport".  Just an opinion

Not a 300, but I went 205 290 141 before. It was 3 years ago, I was just getting back into it and didn't know much about adjusting. Went through the first game hitting light, second game hitting solid and third game crossing over. Playing the same line every game. Last night, I had the front 9 last night and left a 10 in the 10th on the shot. I was upset, teammate says it's okay you got lucky on one of them (5th shot was light). I proceeded to go 279, 256, 244, 779. Had a 240, 267, 267..774 the night before. I had the front 7 in the 2nd game of the 267 and a teammate says I got jink'd. I just shake my head and sit down.

I was a scorekeeper during our state's annual state tournament, when a bowler from out of town, rolls a 300 first game, and DOES NOT break 600 series. If memory serves me,I think his next two was 139,161. And this was a scratch bowler, averaging 217. Yikes!
