That's why it amazes me to see shorter guys like myself bowl no thumb and keep the ball from dropping on the back swing. I tried this last night and I couldn't do it unless I used a 6 lbs house ball.
I've seen a no thumb bowler over the weekend and he had such smooth approach. Looking at the ball speed and ball reaction, you wouldn't think it came from this smooth, soft, looking bowler. Kinda like guys on radio, their looks don't match their voices.
It made me think of guys on tour. who on tour has a smooth approach?
