- Whiffing a single pin spare to lose the match

- Fouling to lose the match (no offense, Malott)

I've done both this year

As usual, I also agree with 'Bones - gotta have a decent slide. I bowled some of those free frames you get at the Bowling Hall of Fame a few years back and it was a joke how sticky the approach/free shoes were.

Stepping up on the approach with either a big string or a must spare shot coming up.  You put your fingers and thumb in the ball, and something just doesn't feel "right"

Worst feeling in my mind, since I know my brain will try to compensate in some way.
--------------------
D <~~~~ Used to be terrible wiffing 10 pins.  Now through much practice, can wiff any single pin spare at any time.

Umm,

In fact umm,two nights ago,I blew a 300 with 10 in a row,and
hitting a SOLID 8 pin,ended up with a 289.I wasn't believing my
goof up and wanted to try again to get that 300,plus I was
RELEASING ANGER AND STRESS from a woman maybe rejecting me,thats why
the strange focus that night,I ended up bowling 23 open play games
I was pissed off,I'm glad to take it out on something.Another words thats
one WORSE FEELING I can have is CHOKING a 300!Close,but not that night, shucks!!

Also hat same night after doing extra practice games
getting a 14something game with 8 straight in a row
splits out of nowhere,man o man!!!Thats a weird feeling.
Before that dreadful game I had a some 220's,a 238,257,280
268,and of coarse I'm human some 170's and a 19something too.
I hate too many splits!ANOTHER Worse feeling UNCONTROLLED
SPLITS that happen, comon, how did I get 8 in a row???
I know I know,I may have just hit the pocket too high or something,
also, the lanes were getting dryish too.

Oh yeah, the worst is knowing you had the game by like
about 30 pins, then to choke an easy easy spare and loose
by 1 pin!!!!!!More worse feeling,yeesh!

Happened to me twice this year alone in 2005.

next!!

I'm still trying to get my first ever
No-Tap 200!!!

Ahhhhh. Exactly. I was bowling a few weeks ago and had the front 9. Stepped up in the tenth put my hand in the ball and I could of sworn my hand shrunk an entire glove size. Felt horrible but I was to nervous to put it down. Threw it, wash out, couldn't pick it, ended with a 266 thank you very much.

I have to say that it is when you stick on the approach. Even if you correct the problem, it is still in the back of your mind when you go up to slide from then on out.

My ABSs helped me solve that problem.

It happens on one of "those" nights, when nothing's going right (we've all had them).  Third game, and not a double yet.  On a strike, and finally throw one ball right.  Stone 8 pin (or 10 or 9 or 7).  Oh well, some nights it's just not meant to be.  --  JohnP

To a lesser extent, when I go to throw the first practice shot and throw a good ball and watch it destroy the rack.  While I like strikes, if I destroy the rack on the first shot of practice, by game 3, I'm more than likely toast!!

I probably feel my worst when my team loses by less than 10 pins, and I've either done something stupid or gotten a "bad break".  An example is earlier this year my team lost total by 3 pins.  On my fill ball in the 10th frame of the last game, I lost concentration and dropped the ball in the channel.  On the other hand, last night we lose game 3 by 6 sticks.  I had walked up in the 10th, working on a double, pounded the pocket, and left a solid 8.  The other team's anchor went Brooklyn, nose, nose for a turkey in the 10th.

Worst feeling when I bowl ...

When I realize, in retospect, that I didn't give my total focus and commitment to a shot.

Worst feeling for me is not making a quality shot ... whether it's my first ball or whiffing on an easy spare ... and I know it off of my hand.

- sticky approaches
 - chopping the 2 off of a 2-7 split (lefty)
 - shooting to pick up the 4-7-10 split, and the 4 pin rings the 10 and you watch it wobble around in a complete 360*... and never fall. oddly, i have about a 40% conversion rate on that split. i make it about 2 out of 5 times!guess i should stop leaving it,
 - losing overall by 2 damned pins. we did this last tuesday when our anchor fell apart in game 3 and bowled a 163 on a 197 average. oh well.

Having the team lose by less than I missed my average by.  I don't like bowling poorly, but hate to feel like I cost the team the win.  A bad gameis a little easier to take when the team wins.

Getting to league/tournament and realizing you left the ball for that lane condition behind.  Last year I bowled in a house 2nd shift scratch league where the lanes were always dry.  I didn't bother bringing equipment for oil.  One night they decided to put out enough oil that even we had plenty.  After the first few practice shots, I knew it was going to be a long night.

Several years ago, I was bowling city tournament and was told they use the house shot.  One house was known to be dry.  I got to the tournament and found out they put out a flood.  The next week we bowled in the other house.  I asked bowlers who had bowled in the other house what it was like there.  They said it was flooded,soI brought equipment for oil.  The lanes were bone dry.  Lesson learned, always take something for oil and for dry to tournaments.

That sick feeling you get in a tournament when you are about 50 pins from the cut line, with 3 games to go, you have tried every ball in your bag, everything you can think of, and knowing that you dont have any idea what to do next.

When you turn up at a tournament/house that is typically flooded, so you bring your oiler bag, ie: 3 oilers, a medium, a light medium, and your plastic... and your light oil ball wont stay on the lane. And vise versa.

When you wonder why your foot is still sliding when you are past the foul line, only to end up landing on your shoulder, looking back and see your dexter heel sitting on the approach where you stand. Thats a great one.

Getting beaten when you have bowled a 'better game' then your opponent. IE: you rip the rack all game and have only 3 strikes to your name. Your opponent has hit pocket twice all game, and has 7 strikes to his name.

The first one I listed is the worst for me. Its happened to me twice. You feel so alone haha.

good luck and high scoring
