I amlokig at the Optimus and Assassin

i am assuming they are both used for med- heavy oil but the Assassin is better to use as the oil breaks down and moves down the alley. I use a Ebonite Source for med to drier conditions, only becasue it doesn't seem to react at a speed of 16mph-- whcih is my comfort zone-- or should I say the most natural speed I feel when throwing. I have to slow it down to abot 14.5 mph do get it to react--i ama roller/ tweener

So is my assumption correct? will those three balls give me the options I need to improve my game regardless of my layout. I know that the pro will help me decide the proper layout.

Optimus for heavy oil on new oil

Assassin for when the oil breaks down

Source for med to drier conditions

I lready have an old hammer for my spare/10 pin-- I have thrown it for years and am comfortable with the break and control for my spares it hold a true line for me

Any suggestions ar welcome-- I have no experienc with the Track or Pyramid. so am info on themis also welcome- I keep reading on the forum about how each ball comliments the other.

Depends on the drilling. My B.W. Assassin can handle Med-Med Heavy as advertised by Hammer. I don't personally own a Optimus but it is advertised to be able to handle the same thing. From seeing members on my leagues throw the Optimus I can tell it provides more length than the B.W. Assassin but too much oil I've seen people with their Optimus switch to their IQ's or Hyroad Solid.

Thank you i think I will take that path-- Assassin for Med- Heavy and look at the IQ or something similar for Heavy oil

For heavy oil and staying with the Storm - I would look into the current Roto-Grip line. The Hyper Cell has been very popular for heavy oil. The Sinister has interesting looks as well.

If you want to strictly go with Storm, I personally would wait until their next series of new releases. There must be a solid cover/heavy oil ball that will be in their Premier Line in the works. Personally, I am not a fan of the Zero or Byte, and I think most IQ's would fit in the med-heavy category as well.

It seems like you have the spare and light oil ball figured out. Remember that you should get equipment for need and not want. It seems like the Optimus and Assassin are both med-heavy pieces.

I do not have either, but the Assassin I think you should be able to play a bit heavier volume than the Optimus, but the Optimus you should be able to move in and it continue better as the lanes transition. Each has an advantage and disadvantage, you just got to decide which would fit you best.

Thanks for all the info-- I have found a proshop near me that features the Storm and Hammer lines and will check them out. Sees like everyone in the league I am going to join is in love with Track and Hammer.. i think that is due to the fact that the proshop on carry those lines and the WD for a plastic ball.

i keep using the Matchmaker and the Perfect Scale on Bowlingballs.com and they came up with the Marvel - S sevrel times.

Problem is I am not sure if I am putting in the right parameters.

Honestly I like the Optimus more becasue of the buzz and the video'sI've seen. Plus I don't no anything about Roto Grip, Pyramid and the other manufacterurs out there. I come froma time when there were hammers, Columbia's and more Hammers-lol.

The more research i do I beleive I need to do more research and get my but down to a proshop and be evaluted by a real pro.

Ebonite Pivot for heavy oil, what a monster
you could always have 2 of the BW legend
1 pin down and some surface for heavier volumes
and less surface and a different layout for a step down

Bill Oniell had 4 different BW legend which he used on all of the TV shows over the summer
1 pin up/ 1 pin down OBB surface
i pin up / 1 pin down with surface
(or something close to this)

The best bet is to get with a reputable pro shop or coach and let them help you out. We are shooting blind over the internet, but a good coach or pro shop should be able to help you find what you are looking for and answer any questions you have.

Try a Mastermind in your heavy oil position. I have yet to see anyone disappointed with it. Great ball.

I am a huge Storm fan, but the BWA issuch a great ball. But if you preferred to go the Optimus route, change the surface to about 2000 and adjust accordingly.

Sorry what is a BWA and how do I get the optimus to 2000-- What does that mean.. Do I use grit paper or what ever it's called to take the polish off the ball?
