Anyone try the SST5 LX's that just came out?
« on: August 15, 2004, 11:15:01 AM »
I want to know how they compare to the sst6's. I'm looking for a new pair of shoes and wondering if the sst6's are more stable or not. The sst5's definitely look better. Any comments?

I just picked up a pair of them a few days ago and they are fantastic. i have larger feet but narrow ones, so these are better for me than the 6. plus cheaper too.

I'm not to into all that heel and sole changing stuff. I never have any problems with approach or sliding. And I bowl at a lot of places. I honestly thinks it adds to the confusion.

Yeah the problem with stability I'm really concerned with. Also the additional sliding soles and brake heels, I can really use especially since back home where I bowl occasionally, I encounter really slippery wood approaches. While here in San Diego, it's more of a tacky approach, which I like a lot better and gives me a lot more leverage.

TheDude just compare:
SST6LX - $115.95
SST5 Comfort - $102.95
SST-5 LX - $99.95

But SST6 has 4 soles and 4 heels, SST 5 2/2
Add 12-14$ for each additonal sole, and 8-9$ for each additonal heel.
And you have +/- 100+24+16=140$ for SST5.

Good Deal

You're not going to get flamed, at least not by me

The only really GOOD reason for having interchangeable soles (my opinion) is when you bowl in different houses, like a travel league.  Personally, I've got the SST 6's and the sole-changing ability comes in handy when I bowl Nationals because I never know what the approaches will be like.  In Reno they always seem slick, but when we were in Knoxville they were tacky due to humidity.  I'll never forget Syracuse... it felt like I was bowling on the beach

Yeah TheDude.
My incliding transport to Poland cost me approx 140$.
But normal Proshop price my place is +/- 220$.

The only really GOOD reason for NOT having interchangeable soles is:
1. 0 (zero) step approach.
2. No slide

My average change in plus after changing on SST6
