Making a 9 into a 10..improving the experience.
« on: September 14, 2004, 03:12:58 AM »
Alot of times we might enter our local bowling center and enjoy ourselves.

we say the service is good, and the overall experience enjoyable.

we all have our favorite center, if it's because of the staff, the atmosphere, or appearance and conditions.

What in your own minds makes that center a 10 instead of a 9 or lower.

Are you more often impressed or surprised rather than disappointed with centers, and why?

We all would like to see improvements made somewhere.

Dude--I'd say I am more surprized the last few years than I was ever before.  I had come to expect certain things from a center.  Most of us have taken this for granted...now it seems more the exception than the norm for a center to have overall cleanliness, supportive as well as friendly staff, and nice appearance.

To add.......I am always suprized at a bowling center staff member when cleaning up say the counter or settee area when they don't ask open bowlers if they'd be interested in a league/short season or whatever.  I never see this type of employee in a bowling center and we wonder why league bowling and ABC/WIBC numbers are down.

I used to work in a small 10 lane center and took it from the doldrums of hardly any leagues to full by just this one organized effort by asking open bowlers if they'd like to try a league.  It works!

Seems like more often than not, I will either see a clean, well lit center - or a dark dungy center with friendly people running it.  I have only seen one "10" that has both - a clean center and friendly staff.  The best part is, it's only 30 minutes away!

Keep your balls on the lane and your mind in the gutter!

I wonder where they went? ;)

Upkeep - it seems like there is always something small broken.  The 10's are the ones where everything is cared for - equipment and bowlers - you can see the love and pride of ownership and the interest in bowling.
