Pathetic. How hard is it to ban someone? 2 moderators online and they suck.
Not locking anything... not banning anyone.
Pity so many of my friends are here.

It's that cumbersome little tapestry known as The Constitution that allows people freedom of speech. It's up to normal, upright walking humans to simply ignore them. It's the whole "feeding the squirrels" theory.

I love it when someone brings up the Constitution and the freedom of speech drivel. I hear it all the time on my site too. It doesn't apply here, this is a privately owned website.
I've run a number of forums and EVERY moderator had editing/locking permissions. None had banning. If you have zero powers... why are you a moderator? And what good is being labeled as such? Sounds ridiculous to me.

I was hoping someone else would point that out. I guess I shouldn't find it so difficult to believe that public education would botch explaining what is and is not covered under the protective umbrella of the First Amendment...it isn't like they are doing a stellar job in any other area of education.
There is no question, getting back to the primary issue, that the current owners have taken a do-nothing approach. At least Scott was pro-active in curbing the nuisances before they grew to full-scale problems like the current idiots occupying the IGNORE list...

Sorry to hear about that Justin. I remember vaguely about the moderator who got out of hand. The performance of this site continues to be buggy and the quality of content is hit or miss.
I'm not trying to be mean, but as a webmaster myself I know that things like this can be fixed. It takes time and sometimes money to do so, but it can be fixed. Many forums offer an "Alert Webmaster" link on every post so that if it's a problem you can bring that to the site owner's attention. But once again, that takes time.
If I thought for a second I could swing a fraction of the visitors to a new site, I would gladly build one with commercial grade software and server... both of which I already have.
Sorry... I take these things very personal. I hate to see websites, especially popular ones, get run over by the faceless Internet cowards.

Tony--It only can be fixed if there is a visable site owner/webmaster. Agreed?

Agreed Scott. And therein lies the problem... as I'm slowly learning.
