Wrath XP vs. Raw Hammer Pain
« on: August 15, 2006, 12:07:14 AM »
I'm just wondering if anyone out there has thrown both or feels they have enough info to chime in on both of them.  I recently picked up a used Wrath XP, and I'm debating whether or not to get it plugged and redrilled or to try to move it and get the Pain I originally wanted.  I've had a LOT of success with my Doom, but I have had success with Columbia in the past as well (Uturn Pearl).  Has anyone seen and/or thrown both?  I don't need something for the real soup, as I rarely see it, but I am looking for something to go over my Doom when the lanes are too slick or when carry down starts to wreak havoc.  I'd also like something that could turn the corner from inside, and I have a spot for a solid reactive since I dumped my Big One.  Thoughts?

Did you ever end up getting your dry lane ball?

Yes, I traded the Big One for a Vibe that I'm taking in to get plugged today.

Oh sweet.  That's good to hear.  Sorry I have not used a Wrath XP or PAIN.

Ryan I think you would be very happy with the Pain.  I great 1-2 punch with your Doom.  I can use mine for heavy oil.  I plan on buying another one and giving it a pin above the bridge layout like one of my Dooms.

I wouldn't buy another one if it wasn't a great ball.  Move the XP and grab a Pain.

Id say go for the Pain...it seems to be more proven than the XP though I hear that  it might have some carry issues, but its probably just the bowlers using it.  If you want a true winner, the Black Widow sounds delicious.  I know you aren't much into the high end stuff, but damn, that BW is great.

The BW does look and sound great, but I'm avoiding assyms until I get a more consistent release.  I feel like I just have more room for error with symmetrical cores.

I know 4 or 5 guys throwing the Pain right now and none of them have had any carry issues with this ball at all.. When it hits anywhere near the pocket, the pins explode.. For me, its the best carrying hammer I have in my bag right now.. I would get the Pain, you won't be sorry..

How much oil can the Pain handle for you?  I don't need it to handle the really heavy stuff, but just heavy-medium to light-heavy conditions.  (I rarely see true heavy oil.)

I thought the pain was more of a med-heavy>med ball?  Med>Light I would stick with your Doom.  My sig says I'm getting some new equipment soon (its actually on the UPS truck now), but Hammer has really brought the big guns lately.  Maybe I'll opt for more hammer stuff coz when I was able to find dry enough conditions, the Hammer Doom I traded away was money!  We'll see how my Track Equation works out first.

Anyways, it kinda seems like you have your heart set on the Pain, otherwise you would have punched up your XP already.  Post that thing on the trade forums and get yourself an NIB Pain!

The pain for me is medium to medium heavy. It will handle some oil in box finish so don't be afraid to use it for that.. It can also be dulled to handle more oil or polished for drier conditions. Its a very versatile ball with the juiced reactive (same as the Road hawg)coverstock..
