it must have been these (pair) lanes.
« on: March 22, 2012, 03:48:10 PM »

Last night, I've tried every adjustments that were within my skill level and could not consistently carry the ten pin. I did have brief glimpse of all ten pins down, but only to lose it in a frame or two later, leaving a flat or ringing ten. I exhausted all three balls, played different angles, and other adjustments with no success. I felt that I was throwing it well and my equipment wasn't the issue. It was the pair and the people I was bowling with. I did my best and it ended up a good night for spare practice.

But right after league, I jumped on the next pair of lanes to see what would happen. I took all three balls and alternated each ball for each frame and threw strike after strike. Even the bad shots carried. I ended up throwing 3 games total still alternating each ball for each frame and was plus 144 from my league total. These pair 21/22, plus 5/6, 9/10, 29/30 all have given me ten pins too often....

Last week, at the other end of the house, I've seen 220+  bowler go through the same thing. some nights are going to be like this, especially at this house...ask bowl400 and tenpinspro

(The balls I used were the Hyroad 4.5" pin down, Misfit 4.75" pin up, and Breeze pearl 5.75" pin up.)

Xray,

It's possible that these lanes have issue with the pinsetter, putting the 6 pin slightly offspot. Not enough to notice from the foul line but enough that it effects the carry of the 10 pin. Another issue could be lane topography. These particular pairs could slant just slightly toward the right, carrying the ball a few centimeters farther down the lane, causing the angle to be off enough to leave 10 pins. Could be that these pairs are the ones they do (or do not) use more often for open bowling, causing differences in the oil amounts downlane, that can do this. It is hard to say why you see this on these pairs. Hopefully your league schedule is available to you and on the nights you hit these pairs, you may need to bring an alternative ball along. Maybe something with a little more surface, or a solid instead of hybrid/pearls you listed (I am not 100% up on DV8, but I believe the Misfit is a pearl). Use the times on these pairs to experiment, maybe a different hand position, different release if that is part of your game. Hope this helps a little.

21/22 were the lanes I was on that one night where i kept making  adjustments and leaving 10 after 10... maybe jorge is right about the  pinsetter being off... remember this is an AMF house and its Land park  hahaha

the rack is pointed downward on one of the lanes on this pair, but in some lanes the rack does look like it's falling off..thanks for explaining the possibilities....My Heat Solid has been good to me at this house, I guess I better bring it back in the bag. I think the Misfit is a solid too, but I had polished it recently... well a lesson learned and I'll go out there monday night and see what happens this time on 21/22.

xray, you should have bowled on the pair you was having trouble with and see if you could figure out the carry issue. Maybe change the ball height in your stance or moving forwards or backwards on the approach!

Train a child up in the way they should go and when they are old they will do some "Damn Good Bowling", be a "DV8" and not turn from it, besides bowling starts with a Big B!

I should of stayed on the same pair, but I just wanted to see if the next pair would give me the same result.  And just my luck, I found out that we are bowling on the same pair that I had trouble on Wednesday, for tonights league. I'll see what happens....
