Title: Wrist brace suggestion...
Post by: Matt Fortney on November 12, 2012, 10:02:39 PM
So my wife has used a cobra in the past. Not sure like, the model or whatever, but it was the one with the finger. Anyway, obviously with the brace she had a lot more revs, better shape, better carry, and more hook. Problem is, it's an uncomfortable thing to wear. Any suggestions for something that will help her produce more revs and some wrist support without being so uncomfortable? Thanks in advance. Appreciate any help.

Matt

Pro-release. My family has been using theirs for years. They stand the test of time and allows you to adjust them for more or less revs.

If she wants to get away from the metal type support I would recommend trying a Mongoose Optimum.   Its not adjustable like a cobra,  but it might be good enough to work for revs, hook, etc.  Its very, very comfortable after initial break in.

If you want to continue using a adjustable metal brace,  the Pro-release like Righty said.  Another good thing about the pro-release, it doesn't use velco straps that wear out quickly.

I second the Pro Release,I love mine.I have a history of wrist issues, and since using this brace,I no longer have a problem.

I have no affiliation with anyone, just a personal observation
Have tried several over the years and being LH and big hands, this one fits and performs well

Hi Matt: welcome back from overseas, good to know you're back on the lanes.
Mary continues with her pro-release and replacement parts available which is nice for longer life. She loves hers, check it out.
I still have one and switch to robby rev's with finger extension sometimes which is also more adjustable than the eagle line, check on line for more with the extended finger is that's preferable to her, there are many. donb

I was just fortunate enough to watch one of the best woman bowlers(senior) in the United States show her wonderful form for a few sets recently.

She used this and seemed to have underful firmness and feel for the ball at the point of release.  It may just be her or it could be the combination.  I was impressed.

Dramatically better than a Robbie's standard I'm not sure but the hand ends up on the ball instead of that metal piece in the hand being on the ball.

The ebonite SL-1 is a good brace for giving a little support and really helping the thumb exit on time.  I find it very comfortable.
