When I use one, it's the Mongoose Equalizer. Comfort, not bulky, leaves the hand open so it doesn't perspire as much as the glove type.

I have tried the others, such as the Storm Gadget, and the like but just don't like their "bulk".

Those with the extended finger tend to help the bowler rotate the hand more, so if you're wanting more side roll you might try that type first. Otherwise most of our customers prefer the the ones with out the finger extension for comfort and ease of picking up their ball off the rack, etc.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to thinking that if they buy a new ball they will carry everything. And its even funnier when im carrying with my 15 year old ball and they're going flat ten.

I was using a cobra 3 with some success. For a while I was rolling the really well but for some reason the ball pulls off my hand so quickly I was dropping the ball terribly. Not sure if was the cobra or some new bad habit I got.

Anyway a buddy of mine gave me a broken cobra 3. I had it fixed by welding it in position and cut of the long finger extension (approx 1/2) to the knuckle. I like that feeling alot better.

I used to use the Robby's Gladiator (the one with the crank adjustment).  The bulk and awkwardness bothered me, so I switched to the Mongoose Equalizer.  It's lighter, more comfortable, and all around better.

I've been using Robby's Firm Wrist (original) from way back in 2000 until now. Mine recently had the velcro strap snap, so I hunted for some on eBay. Found these old classics still available. They do the job, IMHO, and they don't constrict movement too much as those modern adjustable ones do. The only issue is durability. Otherwise, it's good to go.

P.S. If you can't find any more Firm Wrists, I believe the successor to it is Robby's Gladiator.

Good luck!

When do you absolutely need a wrist brace?  I bowled without on for so long and then I bought Robby's Original.  Used it for all of league the past fall and now I am trying the PBA without it.  I seem to get more revs on the ball without the brace and can not really tell that much of a difference.  It seems as most players on TV do not use one either.  To whom are they beneficial?  As far as I can tell I do not need to use it all of the time.  Do they limit revs?  I know it helps with ball release, the first time my brother in law used his gadget he must have dropped the ball 10 times, but after that what is their purpose?

Just to say Michael Haugen uses a wrist brace all the time and Walter Ray used one when his wrist was tired from bowling in one of the longer PBA events
