Death Of A Sport League
« on: January 19, 2005, 02:07:30 AM »
Well, I am down to just bowling in one league now because the sport league I was bowling in was dissolved.  I joined the sport league (8 two man teams)because I was interested in seeing more of a challenge - bowling in a one house town I was becoming too locked in to only one condition.

For the first few weeks they had problems with the lane conditioner machine in getting the shot recognised as a legal condition but in the last few weeks they seemed to have gotten the bugs out and the shot was legal.  Then, as the half was approaching, people began to talk about quitting.  One or two bowlers had to go out of town due to their jobs and would end up missing anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks and they said they were going to quit.  Another bowler said he was bowling five nights a week and due to finances he would quit.  Then it seemed to snowball and for work reasons or health, most of the league said they would not be able to bowl the second half.  At the payoff for the first half, there were only about five of us who wanted to continue so the league was dissolved.

I am hoping that we can get enough bowlers interested to try again next season.  Why do I have the feeling we might not?

Because the league was full of a bunch of lame-o's that couldn't handle the reality check?  Work, health, blah, blah, blah... just an easy out.

Maybe I'm wrong, but 11 of 16 guys suddenly having conflicts with work, finances, and health?  Sounds fishy to me.
