Release Issues
« on: July 15, 2008, 12:44:36 AM »
I'm having issues releasing my ball. Say my target is 3rd arrow and the break point is round 8-6 board. I have problems opening up the lanes and I'll miss say 2-3 boards inside of my target and because of rev rate i go through the face every time. Now saw I'm playing a more direct path to the pocket I'm fine and rarely miss. Any Ideas as to this problem because it killed me at JG Nationals. Thx

Just watch how Robert Smith and Pete Weber's final release with their hands. How they let go of the ball and bring their hands towards the right facing up open. Even Rhino Page does it. That simple move will keep your ball on tartget. No more crossovers. Watch them this coming Sunday or see one of past events during the week on the espn channel 203 at night.

Give it a try. It has help me a lot during the summer leagues. For the first time flirting with constant 200's and 600's series.

Without seeing anything else about you, I'd say it's confidence.

Sounds like you are playing outside your comfort zone which causes you to pull your ball inside your target becasue you don't trust your ball reaction.

Practice with a purpose. Don't use your A game and try to develope a B game..

Keep looking... I'm sure there's a 300 in one of those balls you keep buying!!

i think it might be confidence. But it just seems that if i dont hold the ball very close to body and right leg at release it travels left of target

ts possible that its an eye dominate problem. I read that if you keep the ball close to your body and right leg at release it travels let of your target.  Ar you left handed?  I say that because if you're right hande the ball should be close to your left ankle as you release.  Your elbow should be close to your side.  If the elbow gets away from your body during your swing, you might have a tendancy to bul the ball.  When we use to practice we put a ball towel under our armpit and he the ball to see if the towel falls letting us know that our arm is getting away from our body.  According to Ron, Alvin and Mark,by letting your elbow get away from your body during the push away and arm swing, you might pull the ball back behind you too much causing you to pull the ball during the release.
