Wrist support/Liz Johnson
« on: March 13, 2016, 04:01:11 PM »
Does anyone know what wrist support Liz Johnson is wearing? It looks like an Ebonite Z-Loc 4 but I can't tell for sure.

Thanks

I don't think so.  It looks like it's fixed and the gadget (I think) is adjustable.  Also, I can't find it on the Storm site.

Ugh, Storm's site is so slow :P

One of these:
https://www.stormbowling.com/shop/gear/316
https://www.stormbowling.com/shop/gear/315

It looks like it's a fixed support and is blue in color.  The Storm is black and is adjustable.  To me it looks like the one from Ebonite and she's wearing a black glove under it.  Hard to tell for sure looking at it on youtube.

Definitely not Storm.  I've noticed the covered logo on many telecasts.

But do you really want to use sucha  big crutch?
Unless you have some illness that makes you need such a monster, you shouldn't use it.
Get one of those small crutches instead.

IMO those things are even more of a problem than two handers.  No other sport can you strap a metal brace to your arm to make you release the ball the same exact way every shot.
Those who can't bowl, bowl with two hands.

If the wrist devices are such an advantage, why are all the top pro's not wearing one?

yea i guess really only the girls wear them.  Most of their game is about consistency and accuracy when most of the mens games are speed & rev dominant.

Only some of them, perhaps there is money to be made teaching those ignorant male and female pro's who don't wear such performance enhancing equipment how effective they are.

I have to go against this point. Just because that most top pro's do not wear them, you leap to the conclusion that it is okay for a wrist device.

You all know it takes a lot of time and effort to develop an excellent release at a professional level. By slapping on that device, a person can eliminate most of the issues and struggles that one goes through without the support.  Yes the a person gives up some versatility by wearing one, however, there  are a lot of bowling balls and layouts out there that make up for that.

There arguments on both sides for these devices.

My opinion is they should be banned at the professional level.
