Wrist Supports
« on: November 10, 2011, 01:10:32 PM »
Due to injuries and a lack of wrist strength (yes I'm man enough to say it), I'm thinking about trying a wrist support.

Anyone use one?  Tried any out?  Any recommendations?  I was looking at the Mongoose Lifter...anyone ever use one before?  I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks all.  I think I'm starting with the Lifter and I'll take it from there.

The problem I have with the hard braces in general is that they can lead to bad habits. Many hard brace users fall in love with the more extreme cup settings, which will turn you into a one trick pony after a while. If you go that path, stay away from the extreme lateral/cup settings.
+1! I did not like the big brace at all, I originally got it when I was naive enough to think that revs make a "better" bowler. But I was happy to have it lying aroudn when I needed one due to my injury, and the "free hand" trick was very helpful, too. But if you have a poor release, it will hardly improve through a (huge) wrist device. If you use one, it is IMHO best to consult a good(!) pro shop with a good assortment and someone who can really judge your problems - if you need a wrist brace, try to get along with the lightest/smallest one that actually cares for your specific problem.
