Wrist Tape Question
« on: March 08, 2010, 12:24:03 AM »
Hi all,

A lot of bowlers (eg. Tommy Jones) wear tape on their bowling wrists for extra support. My brother has been having small twinges in his wrist when he bowls recently and would like to try this. Does anyone have any experience as to which kinds of tape are the best to use for this?

Thanks for any and all replies.

I sometimes use any type of medical wrap tape. Anywhere from 99cents to $2 a roll. I usually get 1-2" wide tape and I also make sure its hypoallergenic. Comfy, cheap and gets the job done. Can be picked up at any drug store.

Does wearing tape like this serve the same purpose as those wrist guards that go around the wrist only?

I wish i could tape my wrist.  No matter how i tape it, its either too loose to do any good, or its tight enough to cause my hand to swell enough that i cant get a good feel with my equipment.

Sux, i have a bad wrist & hate all types of wrist supports, just gotta deal with the pain i guess.

I tape up, used to use a Master wrist wrap quit with that.

I use medical tape to start which is very easy on the skin and hair. then use Hockey tape, the stuff used on the sticks, over the medical tape, this adds great support.

I use this "spongy" stick to itself type tape.  It works like medical tape, except you can use it many times.  Wash in machine and let air dry, gets sticky again.  I get it at Academy.  One roll will last for a couple years.  Plus, I got tired of shaving my hairy wrist when using regular tape.  I'm a puss, and didn't like the tape pulling my arm hairs out.
