St Louis area BR members
« on: February 13, 2004, 09:38:21 PM »
I’ve been toying with the idea of setting up a tournament across the river in Alton.  Since I’ll be relying on the BR members in the area to fill out the squads, night as well set the tournament up the way you want it.

Give me your ideas on the tournament you would participate in.

Pattern
# Games
Cost
Prize fund ratio
Etc

Personally, I liked the set up in Kankakee, bowl 5 games, cut to top 16, best 2 of 3, #1 seed vs #16 seed.

Give me your input

Of course, input from outside the area will also be helpful.

Got an e-mail with this suggestion.

Elimination tournament shot on a PBA pattern.

Winners of each match ane all scores over 195 advance to the next roung.  Hi game each round receives a bye.  Highest  eliminated score also advances if needed to keep an even number of bowlers.

Also have suggestion to go to 6 games.  Bear in mind, with the longer qualifiying format it can get to be a marathon.  With 5 games qualifying you'll be possibly bowling 17 games total.  Also with 50 entries, each additional game will take $100 from the prize fund.

If you put out a PBA pattern have a different shot on each pair, I.e. 1-2...pattern A and so forth. then have match play set up on the tounament of champions or us open patterns. Also limit it to non-PBA members only because that would be an advantage to them because of the experience of playing on these shots all the time

you could also have it like kankakee except being just plastic they are  allowed two balls of their choice with no surface preps.

I'd do a tournament but you guys would smoke me badly. I only have a 164 average on your typical house oil pattern.

Never bowled on a tough PBA oil pattern.

still thinking about it.
