When a team pre/post bowls too much
« on: January 04, 2013, 10:47:45 AM »
Do you think there should be a limit to a team or an individual on a team that pre/post bowls too much. Could a league set a rule that the team is only allowed a certain amount of pre/post bowls.

Example: A league is scheduled to bowl 36 weeks. Maybe set the max of pre/post bowl to 4 weeks for each team.

One league I bowl in voted on a limit on pre/post bowling..3 or 4, can't remember.  Past that limit, a penalty on handicap is imposed (ie, 10 pin penalty).  Never heard of such a rule, but it certainly makes sure pre/post bowling occur with reason, not just because.

+1 I'd agree with a limit on number of pre/post bowls in a league season to weed out those who do it just because or who feel if they pre/post bowl on a different night they will have a better shot or fresh oil. I bowled in a Sun morning league last fall where there were a few teams who pre/post bowled a lot. Given most had legit reasons be it work, holidays etc but I was aware some did it cause they felt they were out contention or found a better shot on a different night in pre/post bowling. I personally hate teams that do this because I like most bowlers I'd imagine hate bowling against no one and not knowing if you won or not until after you bowl a game. Just my opinion.

Although the USBC rules involving prebowling have been changed, there is one USBC member who rolled three prebowled 900 series in one league within a four-month span ... and two of them are in the USBC record books, having been certified.

I think they started referring to him as He Who Shall Not Be Named on this site so he wouldn't get any more publicity or show up on any Google searches.

Curious. What do you all think about a bowling center not accepting post bowling?

if it has been approved by the league officers then the house should go along with it .

Its the owner of the Bowling Center, it is his business. I don't think the league officers have a say in the situation.

I bowl in small houses and the owners need the leagues to stay in business. So better to work with the league than loose it .

It is a small house and post bowling is the problem. It is costing the owner money.
