Question about drill patterns
« on: June 10, 2006, 10:44:37 AM »
My Agent is drilled 3 3/8" which is noted as "for use by players with low revs ONLY."  Well, I got it drilled like this because at the time I did have pretty low revs but now my revs have been increasing.  Despite the increase in revs, my ball doesnt seem to hook as much.  Could this be possible due to the drilling pattern?  I know if a ball is too strong for a condition it can roll out, is that happening here?

Im thinkin of redrilling it to 4x4, what do u guys think?

You say your rev rate is increasing, but why?
Did you adopt a different form of release?
If yes, does the new release impart more revs on the ball but more spin (axis tilt) as well?
You have to understand what are the "effective revolutions" for a ball to hook firstly.

Maybe this does not answer your question. But I don't think it's the problem of the drill pattern.

Hey guys, I forgot to mention that I brought the ball back to OOB condition a few weeks back.  My revs are increasing because I've only been bowling for 4 months and as I bowl more and more, my revs increase.

Maybe carry down was causing my ball to not hook today coz any other day it would find the pocket.  Ive never had such a hard time on a THS shot; the ball just wouldnt come back as much as it usually does.  Oh well, at least I know the drilling of the ball isnt the problem, maybe it was the lane conditions.

Okay, then you might need to take the ball to a more polished state. To me it sounds like the ball is burning up its energy and rolling out before it finds the pocket.

well, i brought it back to 1500 polished a couple weeks ago but I play 6 games almost everyday.  Maybe the polish is wearing out.

As for the Doom, that ball is drilled label leverage.  I had it at 1000 abralon to play spares and down and in when the Agent starts to hook too much, but it was goin brooklyn on me even going up the 1 arrow, so I polished it today but didnt really use it other than to pick up spares.

Hopefully the problem lies with the carry down on the lanes.
