I used to work for USBC and Strike Ten Entertainment at Bowling Headquarters in Arlington, TX. Plus, I still own a home in S. Arlington. As such, I spent some time yesterday afternoon checking in to make sure my friends, former colleagues, and home were safe in the aftermath of yesterday's nasty tornado outbreak down in Texas. Thankfully, everyone seems to be okay; however, the USBC folk told me that a funnel cloud pretty much passed right over their building in N. Arlington. Well, after checking out youtube, they couldn't have been more right! If you watch the video posted in the following link, you'll see the system that passed right over the top of them! FYI, the tanish building with the white/gray roof is the International Training and Research Center, which is connected to a reddish/orangeish brick building, which is USBC/BPAA/Strike 10 HQ. You can see them in the center and lower-right portion of the screen throughout the video. Crazy stuff!

Another year, another arsenal of bowling balls, and I'm still a standard house hack!

That was rather ominous looking!  Glad nothing happened more than that.

A sign they were supposed to build it in Orlando, Florida as originally intended.

It was a little wilder than normal.  The video I saw of the Kenworth yard and the trailers flying  around was crazy.  Living on the eastern edge of tornado alley these kind of things are common.  For some reason it happens along the I20 corridor frequently.  Chances of actually getting hit by one are slim but the damage they do when it happens is awesome.  The storms really scare the hell out of people new to the area.  An interesting thing this year about the damage is that investigators are blaming a lot on poorly constructed houses.  Many of the houses hit are newer construction.
