Dropping the shoulder used to be a deadly sin in my day. However in todays game the ability to throw the ball out and create large hooks is easiest accomplished with dropping the shoulder. Despite the many elite bowlers employing this method does anyone think that this is not a good a good alternative to proper body alignment? and why?

How exactly is it accomplished with dropping the shoulder? A slanted shoulder line is NOT a 'dropped shoulder'

I think in most cases over the years "would be coaches" witnessed early timing which seemed to make the shoulder drop more than usual and the ball to be "tugged" inside the target. These "would be coaches" confused the motion of an early timed delivery pulling the shoulder down and the normal drop of the shoulder to allow the ball to meet the lane smoothly. All this is a fancy way to say that there is nothing wrong with a moderately dropped shoulder but there is something wrong with early timing.
