So i show up at the center tonight and the owner pulls me aside and says '' I need you to do me a favor, I need you to slow the ball down on your spares, once you throw over 25 mph the system shuts off automaticly'' I ask '' why should I throw slower what difference does it make if the system shuts off?'' the owner says '' well we have had some guys complaining cause they cant see their ball speed''

any one ever hear of this before? hilarious I made sure I throw the ball just a bit harder for all m spares last night

I've never heard anything like this before either.

In my alley the owner had to disactivate the speed on the screens because there were too many idiots during open bowling not caring about anything else just having contests between themselves to see who could fling the ball the fastest (any which way).

Don't know anything about ball speed radar. We don't have that in our house.
Ya know, the planks in the pits take a heck of a beating. Wood or plastic, they can be expensive to replace. Maybe you could think of the issue in that perspective.
I understand your frustration about being asked to change your game style. Whether you do it or not is irrelevant. I only hope you will consider being more respectful towards the owner/bowling alley. There's no point in chucking it harder out of spite. Besides being incredibly disrespectful, it's pretty childish. lol.

Nice to know you get numpties like that in France too Jock

My local centre has the record though... The speed detectors have been known to "malfunction" on occasion, recording a top speed 78.1 mph...

lol...the flipside we had a center here in Atlanta that used to host pot games and they were known for being really slow.  I used to throw my spare ball around 25mph and it would tell me somewhere around 13mph.

LOL that is just too funny.  

Jock, I have also witnessed guys doing the same thing and calling eachother sissy if the ball speed was under 27 mph.  I have also watched a guy seeing how slow he could roll the ball and keep it on the lane.  He got it to about 4 or 5 mph, but it never held the lane.  He came close several times but jumped off just in front of the 7 pin.

I used to get talked to about it, and every time, I'd go throw it harder. Once I hit 35moh on a 10 pin, they left me alone!

Our Qbica does that. I'm not sure on the speed, but it does cut off.

If I remember correctly, it cuts off at 20MPH (I've done it once or twice covering spares)

the owner should just change the speed limit to a higher number for league.

I guarantee you that in any scoring system you can change the speed limit, and i know for a fact that in qubica you can change it for individual leagues, all leagues, or open play... whatever you want.
