Next Season Pre Talk

You know every year in my house all the real good bowlers have new equipment and looking @ there high avgs I think they might be onto something.  These companies couldn't designing these balls just from the top of there heads, so they must know what type of oil conditions most centers will facing right?

In the local houses here, the top bowlers don't seem to use the "latest and greatest" hook monster ball. I do see a lot of mediocre bowlers using them though. LOL

Zanatos - i would say it depends on how the condition changes from year to year. Some of the house bowlers may have an inside view as to what they might be playing on and they could adjust accordingly, but if i was you i would practice before the new season starts in the center, at different days/times of the week just to see what types of volumes they could be laying out or considering. if you dont see enough strength in the way your ball rolls, then possibly upgrading could help, if your stuff is strong enough as it is, and you're comfortable with that, no need to make any big changes. the other thing you could do that i'm seeing given as advice around here is to adjust the surface of your bowling balls if you arent getting the type of results you want out of the ball you are rolling. but i do think it is fair to say that just because it is a hook monster, doesnt mean it will be the #1 choice for you. but if you dont have much revs, a little extra pop probably wont hurt you.

If you look at all the ball companies, they all offer something that covers Flood to dry.  What separates the high average bowler from the middle of the road guy, in part, is their ability to look at what equipment is available, and know what will match up with their game on a particular shot.  And then working with their driller to get the right layout on the ball.  

For instance, in my Thursday nite league, the high average guys are using (mostly) shiny equipment with the high pin positions.  The middle of the road guys are using duller equipment with very strong layouts.
