The Mania is my ball of choice for higher volume and/or longer conditions while the Craze is first out of the bag for the mediums. Out-of-the-box: 15 lbs, 6 oz undrilled with 2.6 oz top weight and a 4 1/4" pin. I mapped this out using Mo's recommendations 25 x 4" x 25 with a P 3.5 weight hole. Using a thumb mold and inserts, my driller hit his marks so the ball fits perfectly. On a fresh THS (36' morning strip and condition followed by an afternoon 30' fill, no strip) the ball is strong but still manages surprisingly good length, even with the 1000-grit FEPA Siaair box finish. Carry down is not a factor and I can't roll the ball past the breakpoint, even with my high tilt and rotation. The ball reminds me of the Ultimate Inferno but with stronger back end and continuation through the pins. The ball doesn't roll out unless I use it way past the onset of track burnout. That said, I’ve been using my MoRich Craze primarily on the house and tournament shots. The Craze 2000-grit surface, higher RG and slower response layout have matched up perfectly, while the Mania at 1000-grit, lower RG and faster response layout has literally been too much ball for the medium and medium-light conditions I frequently encounter. Still, I loved the reaction and carry exhibited by the Mania whenever the lane conditions supported use of a really strong ball. Last week, I hit the 1000-grit surface with a moderate amount of Valentino’s Snake Oil polish. This allows the Mania to be used on a wider range of typical house conditions in the medium to heavy volume and moderate to long length range. This minor surface adjustment transformed my Mania into a more effective piece at the top end of my arsenal: Great hit, carry and repeatability along with good length and excellent recovery. The Awakening core found in the Mania, Craze and Frenzy, is one of my favorites. The Mania’s core/cover combination is an effective match for the higher volumes of conditioner used in many centers. In comparing the Mania to other balls on the market, the Mania is among the strongest pieces available. On the conditions I encounter, it is stronger than the Mission, Virtual Gravity, Cell, Invasion and 3.5. It’s about as strong as the Red Death and is a more versatile alternative to the Mega Friction on all conditions other than a long flood. MoRich is truly on a roll with their recent releases. If you are looking to add a strong ball at the top of your arsenal, do yourself a favor and consider the Mania.
