I just bought one of the cheap short pin Awesome Finishes off of ebay. After reading a bunch of stuff on here about pin to PAP distances and the reactions that come from them, I was thinking of drilling it with the pin just under the bridge about 4.5 inches from PAP. The "theory" on here being that the longer you get from PAP the more skid/flip the ball will be. I've had an Awesome Finish with a 3 3/8 distance from pin to PAP, but it was a used ball and I'd rather pay for this cheaper one than plug and redrill the old one.
I like the AF I have and the Shock and Awe is drilled about the same, but I want something with a little bit more skid/flip for it.
Anyway, in reading the charts and sheets online and from my S&A, they call the longer pin to PAP "Forward Roll".
What exactly do they mean when they say Forward Roll? And if Forward Roll is completely different than skid/flip, which theory on pin to PAP distance is correct?
