Where's the cg mark on Awsome Hook?
« on: November 09, 2007, 02:43:18 AM »
Hi. I can't find the cg mark on the AH I got delivered today. I put it on the spinner and found the smoothest spin. This put the cg about 2" from pin, very slightly out of line with the pin and mb. Does this sound right? Never had a ball with a core and no cg mark. Is it possible the engraving took out the cg mark? The word hook is right in the area where I think the cg is. Thanks.

On Brunswick-made balls, the CG is usually just a small punch mark.  If it's just a 2" pin then the humongous logos that Morich seems to favor might be covering it up.  Look real close, there might be a slightly deeper punch in part of the engraving.

Thanks Shelly. I went back and looked using a magnifying glass and found the cg mark right on the corner of the h in hook. It was about 1/4" away from the mark I put on from the ball spinner.

So how do you find the CG on a ball spinner?  Keep moving it around until it doesn't wobble?  I thought you usually used a dodo scale.

I've got an Innovative spinner with a 3/4 hp motor that spins the ball pretty fast, so it's pretty easy to tell when the cg is pointing up. It's alot easier when there's a mb mark. I don't do it with all the balls but it's interesting to see how much the cg moves when the ball has been plugged 2 or more times. I don't have a dodo scale and the digital scale setup I use to weigh out the balls would take too long.
