Unless you have no hand or some serious ball speed, it's more ball than I'll ever need in box condition. I like the fact that it does same some for the back, seems to pop the corners out better than any oiler i've ever used

If you find ANY kind of dry on the lanes, this ball will grab hard!  This ball is about 4-5 boards STRONGER than my Scorchin' Inferno in terms of covering boards.  If I threw this ball on the same strike line as my Scorchin', it would go brooklyn.

So yes I'd say it can handle heavy without too much trouble.  This, and the Super Carbide Bomb are the only two balls I have ever owned that made me wonder if I would actually be able to use them on my regular league shot because they are too aggressive.

I have to put some serious steam on this ball to keep it right of headpin on my normal house shot.

When it comes to Heavy oil, the MoRich ball of choice is the TSA! The Awesome Hook is longer with a later break-point, it can cover more boards at the back but it has a hard time starting up in a flood! The Awesome Hook is more geared to handle heavy medium to lighter heavy oil.

I want it for long heavy patterns with tight backends.

Let me know.

THanks.

MoRich's suggestions are great.  Believe it or not, the 3-3/8" pin drilling with mass bias in the strong position and OOB really does snap on the backend if you ever bowl on enough oil.  Weight holes are close to the grip. There is a chart on where to place it according to side weight and top weight.  I'm not sure where that's located...  My pin is at 5-1/2" from PAP, but I've thrown one 3-3/8" and its rolls circles around mine on heavy stuff.

I will probably go with a 4 x 4 layout and a x-hole 2 inches below pap
to give it a little more mid lane since it is suppose to go long.

I am just curious if it can handle tight backends.

Well my experience with mine is that it does offer significantly more on the backend than most balls this dull.  It has come in handy while the new lane guy learns how to operate the damn oiling machine!

First 3 weeks of league we had a flood out there, I was only able to use the Awesome Hook (Scorchin' wasn't strong enough) and stayed in the same spot all 3 games.  Not likely to happen like that very often if they ever go back to the normal medium-heavy shot.

What up fellas.

My Awesome Hook has arrived today. I am going to go drill it out today hopefully. I know from looking at teh driull sheet that comes with the ball in the box, it looks like it's a good idea to put the pin at 3-3/8 but why put the MB at 6 inches. if i just load it up, will this ball burn out?

I was thinking of a 4 x 4 pattern kind of how Walter Ray has his:

Alright folks, i received my Awesome Hook yesterday. I already layed it out and waiting for it to be drilled today.

I layed it out Pin 3-1/2 from PAP and the MB 4-5/16 from PAP. It is goign to need a weight hole. I have't decided where to put it.

Where would be the safest place to put it to avoid flaring over the weight hole itself or my fingers or thumb?

Let me know.

Thanks.
