I have polsihed mine from the out of box condition to use it on medium to medium-light oil patterns. With your stroker/mild tweener, I wouldn't change the surface until you try it at least twice. Then either polish or, if you have Rough Buff, try finer grits plus re-application of RB, as Inverted suggested.
With all the Brunswick people talking about suffering from over/under when they polished their Absolute Inferno, I am surprised I saw none of that with the S&A, which has the same cover, as far as I know.
