Particle Load on S&D?
« on: February 07, 2006, 11:22:25 PM »
Hello everyone,

has anybody trustworthy information into which category of particle load balls the S&D can be categorized, light, medium or high?
I did some research and didn't find any info so far. Next thing is asking MoRich themselves, though.

I thought something similasr.. just the same drama as with the Raging Inferno which was "Activator Particle" - and only in the end of its existence Brunswick added a "medium load" to the data sheet (but not to the ball description itself).

Thanks a lot, Jeff!

As quoted from a friend who works with Mo, "The Seek & Destroy has just the right amount of particle load."

then someone needs to provide a % then in order to get an answer...

what's light, medium, high ?!? I don't know.......MOST companies list this info in their product line.

Why Jeff? If I tell you what percent the particle load is what difference will it make? If you know what % the load is how will you classify it (low, med, high)?

I'm not asking the question. I didn't post this.  I'm saying, in order to answer the original posters question properly, we'll need a % or some 'official' word of what type of load it is.

quote:
My point is that it just does not matter, what does matter is how much friction the cover provides which is not completely dependant on the percent of particle loading due to the different particles available and their shape, size and material.
While this may be true .... some people (for whatever the reasons) will want/need to know this info due to experience w/ other certain % load balls, whether good or bad.

quote:
However we classify the particle loading does not matter, what does matter is that it is a very aggressive cover.

Bottom line is this....it's not an unreasonable question to ask.  And, so far dizzy has only received some "half-true" info I got from KOTM the other day, everyone elses response was ...well...."gray" ....

Well, to chime in once again... for me, personally, I can tell that I fared well with "light load particles" of different manufacturers - including Brunswick's carbide type of particle as well as the soft Storm stuff. High load balls do not work well for me (burn up too soon), so this "load class" gives me some hint what I can expect from a coverstock and if a ball is basically suitable for me.

Yet you are right: besides the load percentage, the type/material, size of particle and the base coverstock plus surface prep will all have influence on a ball characteristic. But it would be nice to have at least this general clue what kind of particle ball one can expect.

I am also still guessing how high the particle load in my Blade Particle is? I suspect medium, too, but there is no info the be found.
