A true MoRich dry lane ball....
« on: May 02, 2006, 09:21:10 AM »
Does someone, anyone, know if Mo will actually make a straight, out of the box, dry lane ball?!? Yes. I know I can do cover prep and all of that stuff, but that cost's money too. If not, I guess I need to look for a Pioneer. (sigh)

When you've moved up, moved back, adjusted left and right, cupped, flattened out, have thrown everyting in your arsenal, and the pins still don't cooperate, just say, "Aw to HELL with it!", and throw the ball!

Contact Morich Bowling.  Mo-Pinel and the crew have a ton of suggestions on drillings for the 3 piece assymetrical offerings from other companies(like the Scouts, Tornados, and Powergrooves) that will give you the look you want for drier conditions.

The ball CAN handle true dry, and drilling it to do so is not "killing" the ball.  The ball will still hit well.  When you put the pin within 2 1/2" of the pap, one is reducing flare, and creating a fairly late reaction.  The ball will not hit like a pancake, it will retain very good hitting power on dry lanes.  I have just purchased a Power Groove, and I like it alot, it is great up the boards and has great length, but as my ball driller said it would, it has a bit of difficulty turning the corner when you move way in to handle the dry.  A ball like the Sahara will be able to get around the corner, yet it will be controllable enough to use.  I can't stress enough that putting the pin farther from the pap (2 1/2" < pin to pap distance < 6"+) on a strong asym will NOT reduce hook, it will create a more end over end reaction at the breakpoint.  Find a knowledgeable ball driller any you have a very versitile piece that can be drilled to handle everything from dry to med/hvy with surface adjustments of course.
