Awesome Revs Factory Finish?
« on: August 25, 2007, 11:49:30 AM »
I have a question for those of you who have thrown a lot of MoRich stuff. I have a Revs and initially the OOB finish provided a nice flip on the back end but was just a touch late in making the transition down lane. I've tried several approaches to having the ball read a little sooner but, I lose the back end reaction. At the moment, I have the ball at 1000 abralon with light polish. The ball reads up too early and loses way to much energy. So, I figuring if I knew the OOB sanding and polish I could work backwards from their to tune the reaction. Any help would be appreciated.

I emailed Morich and asked what the OOB finish was on the REVS. THey informed me that it was 400 with Rough-Buff applied.

Maybe you should try 800 with Rough-Buff and see how that works for you. This is just a thought, I hope that you find the right reaction for you. I love my REVS with the OOB.

thanks for the replies.

Rough Buff:
I've used this on some of my other Brunswick equipment. It has an abrasive that actually changes the surface. Currently, I just used Ebonite Particle polish as described in my original note. My assumption would be that if I sand to 800 and apply Rough Buff then the finish would end up some where between 2000 and 4000.

Abralon:
Interesting point...finer Abralon without polish. I had the ball at straight 1000 Abralon and lost any kind of reaction on the ball. I think it was just too much cover. 2000-4000 might do the trick as well.

I'll have to play around with both of these approaches to see what works best. The idea was that the Revs was set up for the PBA longer/heavier patterns. It seems cover adjustments on this ball make a world of difference, more so than other balls I've seen. Could also be that this ball is so strong from a cover and core POV that it just needs to have less surface and perhaps remain polished.
