Bowling this Month
« on: November 01, 2004, 11:58:37 PM »
Does anyone know why Morich balls are no longer rated in Bowling This Month's Magazine anymore? I've always have had great results with my Morich equiptment and was just wondering why they weren't included in the reviews.
I will usually use thier reviews as somewhat of a guide before I purchase a new bowling ball. I'm trying to decide between a Ravage or a Track Exception.

Thanks for any input.

From what I have heard, MoRich prefers to spend the money that it would cost to give test balls to Bowling This Month, Bowlers Journal, etc. on advertising.  They have placed their own "reviews" as advertisements in the bowling magazines.  This way they have control over what is said about the balls and the magazines still get revenue.

That was what Mo told me when I attended a clinic with him in June.  He basically said it was a business decision and decided to spend the money on advertising.  Although recently he has sent some balls to BJI for review.  I personally don't think the BJI reviews are useful at all.  Mo also does not write his column for BTM any longer.  I think Mo and the current BTM editor, Jim King, do not see "eye to eye".

I also think that the hook ratings that BJI gives to Mo's balls are absolutely ludicrous. AND I like Mo's balls.

Yeah, I think your right. I mainly try to use their ratings with different balls that I'm interested in to get a general idea on their differences. For example, in length, backend hook, etc. It helps me know which ones might go longer, which one should be stronger on the backend and which one is good for oily lanes or dry lanes, stuff like that. But I'm having a hard time deciding to go with the Ravage or the Track Exception. I mainly use Lane #1, Morich and Track balls.
Thank for the input guys.
