Brunswick Rough buff on a Shock and Awe, and other SA questions

I am considering buying a SA. When I had an AI I loved the versatility of it so, I am wondering if anyone has wet sanded their SA to 220 then rough buffed it? I am looking for a ball that has a hard flip but, is also versatile and can handle some carrydown (along the lines of my AI but, a harder flip, hits harder, and is as versatile). I am condsiering going with the Asymetric flip drilling on this peice also. I am sort of figuring that treating the cover stock this way might make it a bit more predictable and also more versatile. Am I on the right track here for what I want or, am I way off?

from what I can see, you're right on...especially if you go w/ a sharp break drill on the S&A.  Bigger backend potential ball than the AI

I have a S&A with the assy flip layout, awesome ball, 3 boards stronger than the standard sharp breakpoint drilling. Just covering more boards later down lane. My first S&A was refinished at 400 with perfect-it compound rather than the rough buff. Gave more length more angualrity but not uncontrollabe by any stretch of the imagination. Both balls stronger than the AI with the same drill.

One other question, is the assy flip layout listed on the Morich drilling sheets or, should my pro shop guy call Morich to get the drilling to fit what I want? I know these are drill picky balls. My pro shop guy has lots of experience with Mo's but, I am just making sure all bases are covered.

Maybe you are not aware that is, more or less, exactly how the S&A comes, stock, out of the box??

Due to the normally very early roll of the S&A, a few people needed to add some polish to the cover. If you do not, then fine. It has the potential to be a devastating ball.

I'm thinking of getting one of these too but not sure how I want to drill it. What exactly is the Asymmetric flip drilling?
