Build Me an Arsenal!
« on: May 09, 2007, 12:25:12 PM »
Hi folks.  I'm tempted by Mo's equipment, since I'm a rather speed dominant player that needs a strong core to be effective.  So, I want you guys to build me an arsenal.

Of the entire MoRich line up, I need a 4-5 ball arsenal.  Balls to consider:
Total Shock and Awe
Seek and Destroy
Weapon of Mass Bias
Shock and Awe
Awesome Flip
Awesome Hook
Awesome Revs
Awesome Finish
Sahara
Whatever comes out this summer

I'm almost definitely looking at a TSA for floods and heavier stuff, so incorporation of that ball into the arsenal gives bonus points.

Thanks :-D

OK, I'll play.

True floods:  TS&A (box finish)  Drilling: Midlane Hook
Med Heavy:  Awesome Hook (1000 grit) Drilling: sharp break point
Med (benchmark): Awesome Revs (box) Drilling: midlane hook
Med light: Awesome Finish (box) Drilling: Asymmetrical Flip
Light: Sahara (box) Drilling:  Hook and Set

A couple of comments:

Mo's balls are versatile enough that you could take a Revs (for example) and change the surface and drilling on it, and substitute it for any of the above recommendations.  The Finish can fit in at least three of the positions as well - with surface/drilling changes.  Also without knowing what surface you're bowling on, these are educated guesses.  Being that you said you're speed dominant, I suggested the drills based on that.  Knowing your PAP and tilt will help in narrowing down layouts/specs.

Hope this helps,

Last I knew, my PAP was 5 1/2 over, 0 up.  Yeah, I'm a high tracker...lol

As far as tilt...very low.

Lane conditions:  Everything.  I want an arsenal that I can go into any house, pull out a ball, and have it work (depending on the oil).

My specs are pretty similiar.  I'm not sure how speed dominant you are, but as far as layouts, 3.5"(pin to PAP) x 5.5"(PAP to mb) x 3" above grip center works real well as a benchmark midlane hook type of layout for me.  I have this on several balls and it works well - for me.  Mo and Mike Luongo have told me to keep pins in the 3 - 4" range from PAP, using pin height to dictate when the core will start to tumble.  MB for me needs to be in the 2,3,4 position (from Mo's ball reaction charts) to help with backend strength/shape.

I'd still stick to my earlier post, but keep in mind the versatility of the balls - Hooks are in short supply, but you can sand a Revs a get the same desired reaction for the condition.  You could do the same with a Seek as well...

Hope this helps,

I have thrown most of the MoRich line. I would definitely go with the TSA, but leave it box, you won't need another oil ball. Then I would get an Awesome Revs, this ball is good when the TSA starts to roll out, it will give you a sharper break point than the TSA. Then get an Awesome Revs. I've yet to get this one, but I've heard that it is a great medium oil ball. Then get the Sahara for the med-light to dry oil. If you can, I would recommend getting the a Ravage if you can find one. This is be far the best MoRich I have ever thrown.

Hope this helps

I love my awesome revs. If you are a high rev player I would drill it a bit more conservative like the control drill on the sheet. Unless you have some monster oil because this thing moves on the backend. You could get two and drill one diff from another and then get a finish to complement that.

For me the Weapon of Mass Bias at 500 grit outhooked everything I had thrown.  The WMB being a strong particle I think would be better for heavy oil/long patterns.

Consider something, at reactive ball like a TSA at its box finish of 400 grit would essentially act like a particle ball due to the sanding lines in the ball. IMO, it would probally have a more profound difference than a microscopic particle. Deeper the tire tread, the great amount of traction.

Also, on a true flood nothing is going to hook anyway. You will be playing direct and the #1 priority will be getting the ball to go into a roll ASAP so you can carry. In this case, you will want a super early reving core like the TSA core with revs up as soon at it leaves you hand.

Think about it.
