c4 reactive coverstock
« on: March 15, 2008, 02:13:41 PM »
my morich awesome hook uses the "c4" reactive coverstock. i'm very impressed with this ball. i know morich uses the polyurethanes that bayer supplies to brunswick. i also know that mo "tweaks" them to his liking. can someone tell me basically what brunswick coverstock is the basis for the c4 ?

I've been told it is pk18 plus Mo's tweaks.

Isn't that what Spectrum is? I thought C4 was an Activator derivative.

AFAIK, the various Spectrums and C4's differ by Mo's tweaks.

Precision made the following post about C4 in this thread. http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?TopicID=180167&ForumID=85&CategoryID=2

C4 uses the same components as PK18 but has 2 additional components added which are proprietary to MoRich. Because of these 2 additional additives C4 is technically it's own formulation (which Brunswick is not allowed to use) and has different physical and performance properties when compared to PK18. The C4 formulation performance characteristics are so different than PK18 it's not accurate to say C4 is just a stronger version of PK18, C4 is in a complete different category.

I've always wondered how the overseas PK24 and C4 compare...

C4 is the PK 18

Spectrum is the variation of Activator

WRONG

Spectrum and the RAV are derived directly from PK18.  C4's family tree isn't that clear and the Performance Pearl Reactive coverstock was derived from Activator+.

Yep, Spectrum on the AFi is PK18 solid. AFAIK, the Spectrum on the Solid is slightly tweaked, not sure in which direction.

C4, on the other hand, is an enhanced/stronger version of PK18 - IMHO a kind of Aggresssive Reactive which was used on the Fuze balls and some Monsters later. Considerably stronger/responsive on the lane than plain PK18, and I would not wonder if the overseas PK24 stuff actually is the C4 material? No prove, but plausible to me.
