I just won a MoRich ball!!!
« on: August 25, 2006, 07:37:50 AM »
Courtesy of www.phantomradioshow.com - I just won a top of the line MoRich bowling ball. I have not kept up with ANY ball manufacturer's releases in the past year, so I'm not at all familiar with what they have. I'm not sure I'll have a choice, but if I do, I'd like the input of the board.

I am dropping to 14 pound equip. this year, so I need all new stuff. I'll have a couple of dry-medium balls to start. There is not much use for a real heavy oiler around here, so any suggestions for true medium conditions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry... I misposted - I had an ULTIMATE Inferno - NOT an absolute. My pro shop guy talked me OUT of the absolute, because I hated the Ultimate so much.

I just talked with him - he said to let him know which one(s) I thought would work, and he'd research them and let me know. I think I've seen one or two Morich the whole time I've lived in the northwest.

Wow Morich is very common around here (Northeast).  What your pro did was kind of out of line.  Just because you didn't like a ball with a sanded solid coverstock doesn't necessarily mean that you won't like a more angular pearl with a compound finish.  All bowling balls should be good, you should never hate a ball.  I personally may gripe about a ball being too condition specific, but I haven't had a bad ball.  It also helps that I have a great ball driller.

I think you misunderstood my previous post. I have a really good ball driller - I've tried almost everyone around, and I've stuck with this guy for about 3 years now.
He is very, very good. I wanted an Absolute Inferno. This was right after they came out, and I was watching all the guys throwing them - of course, they're much better than me, and can make a boulder look good, but.. I had a real case of the wants for that ball. My guy convinced me to not waste the money - I hated my Ultimate (after 3 drilling layouts, and multiple surface changes) - why spend the money on an Absolute just to find the same thing? Instead, he and I discussed other options, and I went with something else. I've not regretted the decision!

I'm just leery - I TRULY NEED equipment at this point in my life. I haven't really been able to say that for almost 10 years. But now I can. I don't have anything but tame - by design - but winning this ball seems to come at an awesome time - so I can get something a little less tame.

We DON'T see floods out here. I have a Lane #1 SCB - I've had it for 3 years. It might - repeat might - have 15 games on it. I don't think that many. I have a couple of other hook in a box balls - they stay in the box. I DON'T NEED THEM IN THIS AREA.

I've come to the experts on this board to find a ball that will work on true medium conditions - because that's what I see and call oily (it's all relative). If Morich isn't the answer, then I'll take my new freebie ball, and trade it for something that will work. That's ok, too. I haven't purchased a new ball for more than a year (gasp) until today, so I'm truly not familiar with what's out there.

Thanks again for all your help.

I got a call this evening from Mike at MoRich. He asked me a few questions, and then let me know he'll be contacting me tomorrow to let me know what ball they're going to send me.

I can't stand the suspense!!! And I guess I don't get to pick it out for myself. Sigh.

But - thanks for the help, gang! I'll let you know what I find out.
