Since I've never seen 500-grit sandpaper, only 500-grit Abralon pads, I'm gonna guess it's an Abralon finish.

Since the AH came out when they weren't yet using Abralon pads (I think) AND since, if that were a 500 grit Abralon or FEPA grade finish, it would translate to about 360 grit US/CAMI (that's VERY low for a MoRich ball. The Total SHock & Awe was 400 grit matte), I suspect it's 500 grit US/CAMI grade. You can use a 1000 grit Abralon pad to get very close to 500 grit US, if I am correct.

Jeff, I believe Mo started using Abralon before Brunswick did.

Can't find any hard information to support that though.

Per Mo via the review in BJI it's 500 abralon.

Bizarre. That's like 360 grit US. Small wonder it hooks at your feet.

what's even more interesting to me is the claim that it didn't roll out at that grit, or even at 360 abralon.

The one I've see was very, very dull, I can believe 360-grit.
