Title: Coverstock difference: Awesome Hook vs Total Shock & Awe
Post by: charlest on October 21, 2007, 02:31:53 PM
I know AH is 500 grit and TSA is 400 grit, but is the coverstock the same?
The core seems slightly different but more alike than different.

DIfference in ball reaction?

Thanks

Same coverstock, different location of the flip blocks.

TS&A had one puck on the bottom of the core and the AH had one on the top and the bottom of the core.

As versatile as these cores are, you could probably drill an AH to react a lot like the TS&A though.

Yes, with the additional flip block, the AH pushes slightly further down the lane before making its move. But the difference to a TS&A will be very small, only detectable when you play both balls with a very similar drill next each other.

Pretty much the same as with the S&A and the Awesome Flip - both have the same cover, but the added flip puck on the AF's Vanguard core adds a tiny bit of power at the breakpoint.

Sorry Dizzy, but you got that wrong. The Awesome Flip and the S&D do not have the same cover. They have the core (both with the upper flip block), but the S&D has a Particle cover while the Awesome Flip has a Pearl Reactive cover.[/quote]

Yes, Shock & Awe was meant, with Activator+ coverstock like the Awesome Flip. Abbreviations can be tricky, sorry if it caused confusion
