Title: Danny Wiseman--Pioneer
Post by: Long Roller on August 20, 2007, 01:43:11 AM
Remember the Pioneer that Danny Wiseman threw last year in the Roll to Riches?  I just bought the exact ball and its on its way to me.  I'm pretty excited about it because, the day he threw it, I looked for a Pioneer for the next week with no avail....

Local proshop has a bunch of these, but a lot of them are x-outs.

If you have really dry backends it will be good, otherwise very high revs this ball is a dart for most players.

I read you have 350 rpm's you will probably like it, for me it went pretty straight about equal to the lane 1 silver bullet would be a very good comparison.

Funny thing is i met Danny at a workshop with Billy Hall and someone had the pioneer there that day and Danny was throwing all of our equipment. He was hooking the entire lane with our stuff and left handed, i would say he is a legit 210 bowler as a lefty.

Probably in the area of 350 rpm's as a lefty and around low 400's as a righty, the guy's armswing and balance is incredible. Very easy going guy and i have heard mixed things from upper level bowlers on him but my take is just a regular guy that loves the game. He did this for free no questions asked i could not even get the guy to accept a beer from me for his help.

Danny Wiseman isnt much above 250RPM's now.

I dont recall him even being "350-400" back before his injuries popped up.

Well if you are correct most of us are in the 150 rpm area, he is a high end tweener I have seen enough tweeners to know what i am watching.

What he is now i do not know this was in 2002 before injuries hit him, the guy can hook the entire lane with you stuff i guarantee you that.

The silver bullet was pearlized urethane if I'm not mistaken so I'd hardly consider that to be a good comparison.  I forget what the cover on the Pioneer is, maybe superflex?.  The ball was made in the days when Morich was produced by Columbia rather than the current producer, Brunswick.  The Pioneer was, I believe, his first and only foray into the mid priced market.  It used his weakest core design at the time.  I would consider this ball to be something like a Punisher, but keep in mind the asymetrical core design which is rare with such a weak shell.

Not really much of an asymmetrical core, either.  Looks plenty asymmetric, but the MB rating is only 0.004.  They say that anything below 0.010 is barely worth mentioning.
