Title: Drilling Question
Post by: ShoreLefty on January 05, 2006, 04:05:47 AM
Some time ago I saw a drilling on here with the pin on the VAL or at least very close, and the MB on the VAL as well.  I believe one pic was of one of Danny Wisemans Ravages.  If anyone knows where I can find that please let me know and more importantly what kind of reaction they had if they had a ball drilled this way.

Thanks

I think Hammer used to have that drilling on their drill sheet back in the 3-D Offset days....

should be good for a wet/dry shot as I doubt if teh ball would overreact off the oil.

Sounds to me like you are refering to the Asymmetrical Flip drilling.

Negative....nothings close to val on an asym flip drill...none that I'm aware of at least

It's a strange drill that Mo or one of his cohorts put on Danny's (one of Danny's) Ravages .....Nollster has that ball.....message him....

I have a friend that has that drill in a few assymetricals(namely a Total Annihilation).

Essentially it's like a 3 1/2 pin X 3 1/4 MB to PAP drill.  It flares a ton(and clips the weighthole thats on the VAL), but boy is it smooth.  For those not afraid to clip a hole and want something to experiment with it could work wonders in short or extreme wet/dry situations.

yeah, that's what I would expect from that type of layout... lots of revs, but smooth.  I could envision the ball flaring backwards if you missed your release a bit (which might cause the pin to be past the VAL)... which would surely clip the holes...

now that you mention that.......it was a drill that Danny used to use a while back, I remember Nollster posting the email from Danny himself...it's pretty cool...I'll see if Nollster can chime in!

I did indeed buy Danny's Ravage with the drilling described.

Ravage (click for pic) (http://"http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr/wMTA4NjM3NzZzNDEzZGZkMzF5NTQx.jpg")

This is the 2nd ball I've purchased from him and I have to say he is the coolest!!  He takes the time to responsd to every e-mail I've sent -- something I really didn't expect......
Here is the context of his message to me about the ball:
quote:

That  may  have  5-10  gms  on  it.  They  said  not  to  drill them  this  way. I  had  to..........I  used  to  do  symetrical balls  similar  so.
It  flared  a lot  but  rolled  heavy  in  the  mid lane.  If  the  backs  are  ripping  its  good for  hook  stop  and if  they are tight  it  should  continue.  I  wanted  to  see  so  I  have it  in  the  back  of  my  mind  if  I  ever  needed  to  do  something  off the  hook.  Its  like  putting the  pin  in  the  thumb hole.....oh  u  cant  do  that--Yes  I  did  !

Remember, Danny is quite the drilling guru himself.  One of the great "Professional Drillers" on tour.  He's only been drilling for about 25 years.

Wasn't Danny responsible for the infamous 315 degree layout too?  He's not afraid to try stuff out... lol
