First night with the Sahara

Well I finally got to throw my Sahara on a regular shot. The Sahara was drilled with Mo's Control layout and polished up. Start out 238, 257, 268 for a 763 baby. First night of league and averaging 250's haha. Sure that won't last. But I am absolutely impressed with this piece let me say.

The ball completely ignored the heads and most of the midlane, revs up hard at and before the break and then broke smooth and continous to the pocket. Was playing 15 to 9 all night with minimal adjustment. What I love about Morich is how the balls rev up strong right before the breakpoint, starts moving left, and then just takes off. It's a totally different reaction than what I get with other stuff. I'm by no means rev challenged but Morich just puts my equipment in a better position to carry for me personally. I've thrown Brunswick, Ebonite, Columbia, Roto, Lane1 but Morich is distinctively different in my opinion.

I threw my LevRG to start but found out it was way too much ball for the condition. LevRG was easily 10 ft earlier in the midlane and would be picking off 4 pins where I was lined up with the Sahara. For once, I've found a huge difference between two pieces. I just bought a Solid LevRG that I will get drilled soon. Expect comments in the future. Good day all.

I picked one up and tried it a little last week.it's by no means a dry lane ball but it is a keeper.first ball I've owned that is real clean in the heads without the over/under or snap. very strong arc in the backend like my AF just cleaner.

Yeah I wouldn't classify it as a dry lane ball either. Even with a control drill slapped on it, it still moves a decent amount on the house shot. But I was able to play a lot further right than what I am accustomed to. Good piece but definitely need something in between the LevRG and the Sahara. Anyone find or can suggest a good intermediate there?

I had bought an Awesome Finish, but I think the ball is dead because it doesn't move a board. So right now, I'm left with a huge gap in between the two. I have a Black Widow Bite that I may drill up and polish. Or I was considering polishing a Total Shock and Awe. Any comments?

The Awesome Finish is solid PK18, that cover doesn't die. LOL Have you attempted  oil extraction?

Bought it used. Coverstock was fine. I guess I will try to revive it. I don't know, could it be the drilling?

I have an LevRG with pin above bridge. Sahara with pin an inch right of fingers. They both move fine. But I have a Seek and Destroy and Awesome Finish with pins at 2 o'clock to the ring. About an inch over, inch up from ring. And both of them do not move for me. It's weird. Either the drilling is not working for me or the covers are "dead" as we call it. Time will tell.

I doubt the cover died,could be a lay out/bowler's release match up problem. you didn't mention the mb position on your AF.

That's what I was hoping for. A layout problem. But there is nothing drastic about the drillings. Pretty standard as far as I know. The MB on the two are in the same location. Unsure of the angles, but they are about 2" inches right of the thumb. I essentially used Mo's fast revving, firm breakpoint for the AF and strong midlane, heavy forward roll layout for the S&D. But both balls were layed out roughly the same. I will post pics so you guys can see. I think it has to be the drilling because both balls with the same drilling don't react much at all.

Like I said, notice the pin positions/layouts of the LevRG and Sahara. They give me no problems. The other two seem to be right in the middle of the two pin wise. And yet they react as if they were dead. Let me know if you have any comments. Thanks

I would suspect that since you are working with second drill balls the core shape has been altered unfavorably for you. I've had bad luck with second drilled strong asymmetrical balls.the S&D looks to have had alot of the top of the core drilled into and some what with the AF plus the wt hole down low just makes the mb stronger,not needed for someone who can rev a ball up.
I would ditch the ones you don't like and try a new finish or maybe something a little stronger cover wise like a flip.mass bias positions for these cores are more critical then pin positions and can make the ball roll way to early and resulting in no hook.I've had this happen with a black widow that I got in a trade,plug it and drilled it with a go long and flip lay out and the ball just rolled out 30 ft. down the lane.bought a new widow and put the exact same lay out on it and the ball was a back end monster.I sold the plugged ball and that person loved it.

Yeah, thanks. I bought the balls cheap. I don't think it's worth it to keep spending money redrilling them. I'll try a oil extraction or resurfacing to try to get some life back in it if that's the case. If not, I'll just a new one then and start over. Thanks again for the responses.
