Hlep with Total Annihilation
« on: November 12, 2006, 11:40:59 AM »
I just got one of these for my daughter and she is having big problems with control. I am not up on ball drilling but we did take the ball to a MoRich dealer pro shop to have it drilled. We explained what we wanted the ball to do and her style of bowling. He drilled it so her fingers are about 2" to the left of the pin. (RH bowler.)  She normally stands at 10 - 15 and throws straight up the boards pretty much , sometimes swinging it out from 10 to about 5. The ball goes long then just breaks too hard she has tried adjusting left, moving up, polishing the ball and adjusting her speed but the ball still breaks too much and she either hits high or brooklyn. She bowls on a THS in one house and in another house which has a flat 30 ft of oil buffed out. ANY help in figuring how to get better control would be appreciated

I took the ball to a morich pro shop as identified on their website for drilling the ball. I hope the guy who drilled it did do it right. He did ask for allot of questions and look at her other ball, an UI, before drilling. As to moving left, she has tried that, up to 5 boards, when she moves anymore left she misses her mark because she ha to swing it out further.

I thought dulling a ball caused increased hooking?? Or does it cause the ball to use up energy faster?? I am not up on changing the surface of a ball. Also there is a weight hole in the ball, small hole, but a weight hole. Also the pro shop was one recommended on the MoRich site. I appreciate all the replies and will use all the info to try and help her become a better bowler and still ave fun with it.

The second shot you spoke of is not going to be the Annihilations thing even mine was to jumpy on that type of pattern. As for an overall adjustment to make the ball better I would have her move her mark to the left a little bit maybe 3-4 boards do anything that will keep the ball in oil longer cause that is the biggest thing with Annihilation it just needs oil to be controllable or alot of ball speed. I would have her stand and aim at the 13th ot 12th board and throw out to 5 this should make it work much better!

If a shop sells balls of a certain company they can have their shop listed on their sites. It doesn't mean they know what they are doing... I would also recommend that your daughter start practicing on being more versatile on the lanes....Conditions change...So should the bowler...

Thanks for all the help. She learned to somewhat tame the TA. She has also added some other balls to her arsenal. She is now averaging about 190. Not bad for a basic bowler who has realy only been bowling for 2 years. By the way she just finished 22 ot of 165 in her first state tourney and I am proud of her.
