Thinking about getting the AF...
« on: September 05, 2007, 09:35:02 AM »
I currently have a Revs, oob, about 5 1/2 pin to pap &  5 1/4 mb to pap, pin right above bridge.  Sometimes it's still too strong for our THS, so I'm thinking a AF would fit perfectly.  Everyone saying how long it goes makes me interested.  I do want a nice hard reaction in the backend, but I want it controllable too.  I'm thinking of either drilling the AF the same way, or possibly putting the pin closer to the pap, around ring finger, mayber 4"

Yup, go for it. Sounds like a good match for what you are looking for. This baby, with the proper setup, really goes surprisingly long, breaks quick and hard but is still pretty controllable at the breakpoint. But it is IMHO not the most overall forgiving ball - tribute to its potential.

Okay, good info.  Is it longer than the oob shock & awe?

thanks for the info...what about polishing a Revs?  Anybody have experience in that?  Or changing the grit higher, like 2000 or 4000

Yes. I have both, drilled similarly, and the AFi goes 4' longer at OOB, brealing later and miore violent, crossing less overall boards due to the delayed breakl point.

In fact, it breaks a bit too late for my liking, and I am going to try a 4.000 grit Abralon finish on my AFi to see if I can make it hook a bit earlier and more, so I get more area close to the gutter to play with. Recovery from far outside has been my only issue with the ball so far, and I do not want to add a flare-increasing hole.
