Just bought a TSA and need surface help
« on: May 07, 2007, 10:45:01 PM »
I am in a PBA experience league and needed more than my TNV for longer oil patterns.  I bought a TSA and tried to use it oob condition.  Starts hooking off my hand.  I am a med revs player and throw about 16.5 to 17mph on average.  What is a good surface to take this ball up to?  Thanks

Just try a finer grit, e. g. 1.000 or a grey pad for a start. Should already make a big difference. If this is still not enough, I'd try a fine high grit like 4.000 Abralon, and if even this fails I'd get the ball back to 800 grit and apply polish.

Just keep going up in grit.  IMO I wouldn't put any polish on it.  If you take it to 4000--that will make it go long enough IMO.

Not really.

With a heavy coat of Black magic I still almost needed heavy oil.

Its the core that starts this ball up so early. Its a extremely early core. Its a great flood ball, good for the extreme speed dominant, or for the spinner.

Thanks for the help.  I used 1500 grit Storm polish by hand and cleaned it.  Then took a blue scotch bright to it and it still rolled early but controllable.  I tried it for a few shots on the Chameleon pattern, strike, tap/spare, but it started a little early.  It should work fine with 1000 abralon, by hand, on the Scorpion and Shark patterns.

I tried a TSA on a pba pattern...I believe it was the viper.

The thing rolled out before the arrows. On a few different patterns there is not enough head oil to get it down the lane.

See what works for you, but the equipment that worked best for me was stuff that used all of its energy late coming off of the pattern.

Goodluck,
Carl

Ok.  I finally found the PBA pattern , the Shark, that matches up well with the TSA.  I bought the ball for situations that are heavy oil or really long oil.  My average game was around 205.  I did take me 2 games to learn how the ball trully reacted with my style.  I hope my gained knowledge will help on a heavy sport pattern as well.  Thanks to everyone, especially C-G ProShop-Carl, for this and other posts on the forum.  Next time I'm in Youngstown, I will have to come to your shop.  Thanks again.
