Labyrinth - mass bias strength?

A call to the MoRich crowd! I already checked the reviews, but I had some more questions I'd put in the forum:

Does anyone know what the Labyrinth's mass bias strength or asym RG diff. is? Since it is a ball from 2000 or so and advertised as "highly enhanced mass bias", I guess that it will by today's standards have a mediocre strength (my guess: 0.012-15-ish?). Does anyone have this core info?

Another question would be how (relatively) strong the coverstock is, by today's standards? Again, we are several particle coverstock generations ahead, but if anyone can give me a good comparison with a current ball, what it handles or not, I'd be glad.

Background is that I have the hand on a single drill Lab', and the good reviews about this piece are tempting

I would try to get ahold of someone from Morich.
There is nothing in the Core Tech area as far as specs go for the Labyrinth.

I agree with pgpelton.

Email MoRich and ask them about the ball. They can answer all your questions. I have emailed them numerous times with questions and usually get an answer back within 24hours.

Good luck and post what they said so anyone can find the info if they need it.

As far as I have learned:

As kotm has posted, it is general knowledge that the Labyrinth's Mass Bias is .008", that is the borderline, according to the gospel of Mo, as to whether or not the mass bias strength of ball has any TRUE, REAL influence. So, for all practical purposes, the Labyrinth is NOT a mass bias ball. Drill as a symmetric cored ball using the MB marking and the angle theory, instead of using the CG marker.

Hello,

thank you all, also for the PMs. That's already a very big help for me. Nevertheless, I guess I will (additionally) contact MoRich's tech dept., too, just to cross check everything and for an "unofficial" feedback. I also contacted them before on technical matters, and they had been very responsive and helpful.

I'd love the ball to have a "weaker" MB, so I might succumb to the Labyrinth's call...

Dizzy,

It's still an excellent, excellent ball. Be sure to clean it regularly and thoroughly; it is a TEC coverstock.

MoRich is quick! A big respect to the tech team and customer service. I already got a reply, as follows:

The asymmetrical diff was never published for the Labyrinth, but measured right around .006

At the time it was considered a strong mass bias bowling ball, but by today's standards it is quite mild.

Great customer service! And it confirms your idea, CharlesT, that the MB was/(is not that strong. I expected it to be stronger, but I am fine with this (in fact I like its lower power). Wow!

And thank you for the cleaning advice - is it a rather spongy coverstock? If I remember correctly, it is a Columbia-made ball, right?

Hey, Dizzy!

Its "lower" mass bias power really only means that once you drill it, it will respond better to hand and speed changes and you won't be locked into one type of breakpoint. To my mind, that is a good thing.

Better hope for a good pin out as well.  I've seen some short pin 2nds take nearly 20 seconds to spin up on a Determinator.  (Tropical Storms spin up faster than that!)
