I think what happened was, whoever drilled the ball first, managed to drill into the core which has a void in it...purposely. That's the way the core is designed! Then on top of that, they managed to just angle the balance hole so that it touched that same void, and now you have a thruway!! The smaller hole near the thumb is normal. That's a suction release hole, so you can get out of the ball cleanly without your thumb sticking!

As for getting it plugged.....hmmmm, I don't know. But good luck with it.

I got it to the proshop yesterday & we got the mystery solved.

After ripping the thumb slug out it appears that the original hole for the slug went very deep, but not only that, it was drilled at a completely different pitch from the hole that was drilled in the thumb. The thumb hole had so much positive pitch that the hole cut all the way through the top wall of the slug and into the ball. So the void I was seeing was the extraordinarily deep slug hole & didn't realize it since the thumb hole was at a COMPLETELY different pitch.

The balance hole wasn't all that bad, but since the slug hole was so deep the eventually met at the bottom.

It's going to take a double plug to fix the problem, but that's OK. My only worry is that because so much of the core has already been drilled out, that I wont get an accurate portrayal of what Mo's stuff can really do. Then again,  nothing ventured, nothing gained.
