Opinions on plugged asymmetric equipment (Topic moved)
« on: June 07, 2007, 01:25:06 PM »
I have a Total Shock & Awe which has the MB drilled out in the thumb, but I plan on plugging and re-drilling.

Will I see a big difference in reaction because the MB was drilled out in the first place, and then replaced with a less dense plug material? I want to put the pin in a lower position, same for the Trifecta.

I also have a Storm Trifecta that is currently left handed, I plan to plug it as well.

Either way, neither of the balls will have any plug in the track. I know normally plugging doesn't effect the reaction all that much, unless it's in the track.

I've plugged plenty of symmetrical cored balls without any problems, but I know Mo's cores can be touchy.

I didn't like the drilling on my TSA to start with, but I don't want another dud reaction again.

Any suggestions on the re-drill? I don't get enough mid-lane with my Passion, so I need more movement throughout the lane. I'm playing in tons of oil and as soon as it breaks down, I can play my Toxic, Cobalt Pearl or Tropical Storm.

I have a Toxic which is drilled Pin 1.5" above the grip, and to the right of the ring. It's just too long on the pattern, unless I play uber-direct and it still barely moves and carries (42' heavy outside of 8). It just doesn't roll up early enough, and I don't want to change the surface because it's a gem for the 3rd and 4th games.

It's the 1st and 2nd game I can't seem to open the lane up.

Like weighing a plugged ball to find the new CG, you'd do well to put a plugged asym on a deTerminator to find the true MB.  Not as important for weakly asymmetric balls like the Ebonite Time series since the MB doesn't play as large a role.  But for the new strongly asymmetric balls like the Vanguard balls, it's more important.

Hmm, I don't think my shop has one, or at least I've never seen it.
