Title: MB void?
Post by: PJM300 on July 12, 2005, 08:50:32 AM
Just a quick question ,  has anyone had there ball drilled with the MB next to the thumb and afterwards have a small seperation or void in the thumbhole from the MB.  I have a WMB in which the MB is about 1/2 right of thumb and inside the thumhole there is a small hole from what I am assuming is the MB pin...  driller says it wont affect anything..  What do you guys think?
Is he right or should I have him fill it with plug then redrill it..

Thanks

My Ragave has the thumb drilled near the MB and there is a void at the bottom of my thumb.  The weight hole is also drilled near the pin, and there is a void there too.  The thing that worries me though, is that there is a void that connects both.  If I blow into my thumb, air comes out of my weight hole.  I really do not like the way it reacts(doesn't react), but I think it is because of the drill pattern and not the large void.

The pin on Brunswick-made balls is also just a marker, whereas the pin on Columbia-made balls is a true core holder, with the shaft connecting solidly to the core.

I just had a Lane#1 ball and a COlumbia ball with the pin placed exactly between the finger holes. The Brunswick ball had a void about 3/4" below the pin, creating a gap between the finger holes, while the columbia ball was solid all the way through. The gap in the Brunswick ball concerned me but my driller said not to worry about it.

Believe it or not, around here, a lot of the drillers Purposely place a tiny hole on some Morich balls to alleviate the thumb suction after they have accidently hit the core. Gives the owner a cleaner release. I've seen it mostly on balls with the Vanguard cores.

Yes;  both my Impulse Zone and Classic Zone have these "voids."  Been using them for a while now without any problems.
