What coverstocks on MoRich Stuff
« on: January 26, 2007, 10:52:57 PM »
Hi,
by way of intro, I throw mostly Brunswick and MoRich stuff. The problem I usually have is trying to understand where the MoRich stuff fits in comparison to the Brunswick stuff. I know the Brunswick line like the back of my hand and understand their reaction very well. I also know that MoRich uses Brunswick Coverstocks so, in order to get a better understanding of the MoRich line can anyone point me at some info on which coverstocks are on which MoRich balls. That would help me to better understand the MoRich line based by relating it to Brunswick. I know this may sound crazy to some but, I'm looking to do a comparison something like the following:

Sahara Coverstock Brunswick N-Control   = Monster Frenzy, Punisher
Total Annihilation Coverstock Solid Activator    = Ultimate Inferno
Shock & Awe Coverstock Pearl Activator+    = Absolute Inferno

This knowledge helps me to better understand where the MoRich line fits and more or less compares to Brunswick. Now, that said...I realize that the cores are completely different...I'm just looking to get a benchmark for MoRich equipment that's all.

The problem with trying this is that Mo sometimes tweaks the coverstocks with additives, so in some cases it is a "Mo Exclusive" cover.  For example, the cover of the TSA isn't used on any brunswick ball.  With that said, I know the Ravage is PK18.

Raven829,
Thanks for the reply, I realize that to some degree I'm comparing apples and oranges. What I'm trying to get to is a place where I can loosely equate a morich ball with the Brunswick line. I realize that because of ball dynamics, Morich may start with a base brunswick coverstock and tweak it. But, know at least what the base is does give me some idea of what the ball may be capable of. Other than that, I'm flying blind.

Thank you as well. Your reply gave me some significant insight. I have a NIB TA and had a TA previously. I always wondered why the ball seemed a great deal weaker than my UI. I was under the impression that the cover was Activator. Knowing that the base is PK18 tells me a lot. I now have a much better idea of what to expect from that ball. PK18 has been around for a long while and was one of Brunswick's basic staples...it's on a lot of their stuff. So, I will now think of the TA as more of a Monster SmashR or Nemesis with a much stronger asymmetrical weight block. So, then the biggest difference between the Ravage and the TA is most likely the weight block (cover tweak notwhitstanding)?

Thanks for you reply. I know of the link below that describes (in general terms) the MoRich coverstock name and its intended reaction. But, What I'm looking to do is get a rough idea of which Brunswick coverstocks form the base for the MoRich balls. I know now that the C4 on the TA (and a few others is a tweaked PK18) but, I have no clue what most of the others are.

Yes I totally agree with your assessment on the TA. The PK18 coverstock does read earlier than the Activator and that difference seems to hold with the morich stuff as well. I will say this, I had a smashr and a nemesis and compared to the TA...the Ta had much more in the backend than either of those. I see that as the difference in the core. The drillings on all the balls were for the most part similar. Pin slightly higher on the TA but, that should not have accounted for the dramatic difference.
